Rollomatic is a private Swiss company specializing in the design and manufacturing of high precision CNC machines for production grinding of cutting tools, cylindrical grinding, and laser cutting of ultra-hard materials.

We are customer-oriented and we provide complete manufacturing solutions for the grinding of precision tools and parts, including wheel dressing and measuring finished parts.

Our manufacturing methods and our precision assembly are based on our passion for Swiss engineering and craftsmanship. Our philosophy is demonstrated by our teams in all stages over the life of the products, from design, through assembly and Lean Manufacturing, and all the way to service and client advice and support. We strive to build a relationship of trust and cordiality with our customers in a spirit of partnership.

Our 12,000 m² production site located in Landeron incorporates ultra-modern manufacturing equipment and technology. Sustainable development is part of our values— photovoltaic panels cover all of our buildings and produce 50% of our own energy consumption.

History

Rollomatic was founded in Switzerland in 1989 by Michel Rollier, current President and CEO. The company was originally a manufacturer of drills and tungsten carbide tools with the mission of meeting complex standards as required by its customers in the Swiss watch industry.
>Rollomatic soon understood that it was necessary to develop their own grinding machines - a decision which paved the way for its rise to considerable size and significance as one of the world's leading producers of precision tool grinding machines.

1964 Francis Rollier establishes Rollier SA, a cutting tool manufacturing firm for the local watch industry at La Neuveville, Switzerland
1977 First manual flute & relief grinder called "Roll-o-Matic" for in-house use
1980 Sales structure began to export manual machines throughout Europe for the first time
1985 First CNC Grinder for pointing was developed with a (patented) positioning system
1988 Tool Division Rollier SA sold to Dixi 4
1989 Conversion of the company to Rollomatic SA focused on the manufacturing of grinding machines for the cutting tool industry
1992 First Cylindrical grinder with simultaneous roughing and finishing operations (patented)
1993 First CNC fully-automatic 6 axis grinding center: CNC600X
1994 Rollomatic Inc. (Mundelein-Chicago, USA) is launched as a subsidiary company
1996 Market launch of transfer machine, the MicroGrind 2000X, for the PCB industry
1998 Rollomatic Taiwan (Taoyuan, Taiwan) is launched as a subsidiary company
1999 Rollomatic Deutschland (Nordrach, Deutschland) is launched as a subsidiary company
2001 Debut of the world's first fully-hydrostatic 6-axis grinding center: the GrindSmart 6000XL
2002 Completion of the new headquarters and production plant with 5400 m² (58'000 sqf.) at Le Landeron, Switzerland
2003 Expansion of Rollomatic USA into a new building with increased capacity for test grinding and training
2007 Opening of the Rollomatic application and spare parts center for Asia in Hong Kong
2007 Opening of the Rollomatic France branch office
2007 opening of the Rollomatic India branch office in Jaipur
2014 Inauguration of the new Landeron assembly and logistics building 8,000 m²
2016 Expansion of the Rollomatic USA competence center
