The measuring and preparation of grinding wheels is critical to a successful process, particularly with micro tools. With Easy SetUp, wheel measuring, tool design and machine simulation are done in one process, on one station. The data is then transferred to the machine via network connection. No additional machine time is taken up by wheel measuring and by dry-running. The dimensions of the grinding wheels are measured by a CCD camera, both for individual wheels or for wheel packs.
Our tool design software is installed on a DELL high performance PC, and the same PC and software manages the camera and glass scale of the wheel presetter. A realistic 3-D tool simulation and machine animation can be carried out immediately after wheel presetting, all off-line. The advantages with EasySetUp are higher first yield, reduction of setup time, correct 3D simulation and off-line dry-run. After carrying out the machine animation, the mechanical setup of machine components, such as the V-block and steady rest, can be verified before the start of production, eliminating a time-consuming dry-run and faster arrival at the first good tool. Consistent quality and continuous improvement is guaranteed. For multiple machine users, several machines can be connected to one EasySetUp programming station.
