Hydrostatic Technology

Hydrostatic

Rollomatic offers the world's first and only fully hydrostatic tool grinding machine with 3 linear, 3 rotary axes and a hydrostatic grinding spindle.

Linear and rotary axes advantages

There are no contact elements such as balls or rollers in bearing elements, as one would traditionally find in linear guides. Instead, hydraulic fluid is pressed into a gap with extremely high pressure in order to create a film of oil on which the upper part of the slide can ?float?.
Thus they offer extreme stiffness and vibration damping. 10 times more damping compared with traditional systems results in a much better surface finish and therefore, sharper cutting edges (much less chipping for carbide tools).

Hydrostatic Spindle advantages:

Much of the damping ability of the machine during grinding is obtained from the hydrostatic design the grinding spindle. Vibrations are reduced resulting in better wheel life.

No-wear advantages:

The non-contact and friction-free guiding elements mean that the slides and rotary axes will never wear. The machine performance and accuracy will never deteriorate or change over time, regardless of how hard, how fast, or how long the machine is used. This also means less interruption for maintenance and reduced cost.
