New - Rollomatic's SmartPunch

The development of the new patented grinding process SmartPunch pushes the grinding limits even further and offers users of the ShapeSmart™NP5 machine the ability to machine non-round and eccentric shapes.

This new technology is based on the proven pinch and peel grinding process that facilitates the simultaneous engagement of a roughing wheel and a finishing wheel. It allows synchronized interpolation between the longitudinal and transversal axes in relation to the shape of the tool, whether it is triangular, square or eccentric.

This grinding method also offers the advantage of grinding tools with extreme length- diameter ratios of up to 200xD.

Your benefits:

  • Grinding of extremely wide shapes, including an eccentric non round punch, in one single clamping
  • Shape Accuracy less than 0.003 mm
  • Super finish below Ra 0.1 on machined parts
  • Ultra-precise positioning of the ground shape according to the shank
  • Ability to grind different shapes on each steps
  • Ability to grind very small punches which can reach length-diameter ratios of up to 200xD
  • Very easy programming via DXF import
  • Extremely simplified process versus common methods
  • Eccentric cylindrical grinding with concentricity of less than 0.001 mm

Innovations in VirtualGrind®Pro 1.19

The latest release of VirtualGrind®Pro has been developed with particular focus to enhance and the programming possibilities for drilling tools. See below examples of new features added.

  • Corner radius and corner chamfer are now integrated as standard operations on drill points.
  • The ability to show coolant holes in blank design is now available in the 3D tool simulation and also on the 2D cross section for inspection.
  • It is now possible to add a form relief directly onto a drill (without combining tools). This feature makes it very easy to add a form relief on a step.
  • It is now possible to add a gash operation directly on a step and thereby correcting the flute rake angle of a step. This is also feasible when combined with a form relief on the step.
  • The new VirtualGrind® Pro version also allows to add multiple flute operations in the same drill.
  • New Flute modes has been added. It enables the control of the margin width and to keep it constant - especially useful when grinding variable helix drills.
