Complex geometries and multiple types of material are just some of the challenges facing aerospace cutting tools. Furthermore, the materials used are often very expensive, which is why efficient and precise cutting is so important. Aerospace therefore requires tools that are adapted, resistant, and complex. Surface finish is also extremely important when working on materials such as nickel, Inconel (nickel and chromium-based superalloys), aluminium, and carbon fibre.

GrindSmart® machines are the most common  for aerospace, as are ShapeSmart® machines for stepped tools, drilling and boring tools. For materials requiring PCD milling cutters, Rollomatic has designed the 6-axis LaserSmart®810XL machine, which addresses all the challenges of machining ultra-hard cutting tools up to 300mm in diameter and 350mm in length.
